I’m thrilled to announce the next step in Open Mesh’s story: we’re now a Datto company!
Since I started Open Mesh in 2007, we focused on building a smarter, simpler way to network: faster deployments, easier management across large sites and multiple locations, and serious reliability—all at an incredible value. We’ve grown a lot since then, but we’ve stayed true to these goals.
When we met the team at Datto, we discovered a company with shared DNA. The common vision, culture and commitment to IT service providers is uncanny. Datto is disruptive, innovative and extremely customer focused. While we weren’t looking to be acquired, we’ve found a natural home within Datto that positions our partners, our customers and Open Mesh for continued growth and success.

Through Datto’s network of 5,000 plus partners around the world, the company provides SMBs with products and services designed to continually keep businesses up and running. Having a successful track record delivering Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions, Datto is now entering the managed networking services market.
As a company, brand and product line, Open Mesh will continue to operate just as we did prior to the acquisition. The team at Datto loves the business we’ve built and the customers we serve, and will be helping us continue to grow. The entire Open Mesh team is staying on and there are some exciting new products in the pipeline. Open Mesh will operate like it always has: smarter, simpler networking with no additional fees for cloud management.
In parallel, Datto is introducing Datto Networking, a suite of managed networking services designed for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). Datto Networking will include Datto-branded versions of the new Open Mesh A Series access points and S Series switches, an innovative UTM Firewall with built-in LTE failover, and additional services such as extended warranty and 24/7/365 tech support. Why did Datto acquire Open Mesh?
Datto’s vision is to provide innovative technology solutions to SMBs around the world (via the channel). Having a successful track record delivering Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR), Datto believes this is the right time to expand, offering the channel even more opportunity. This acquisition serves as a way for Datto to enter the managed networking services market, something that every SMB needs. Datto started its networking journey with the Datto Networking Appliance (DNA) which was released to Datto’s partner community in beta at DattoCon, Datto’s annual conference. The reaction from Datto’s partner community was overwhelmingly positive and the addition of the Open Mesh products continues the journey.
What will change with Open Mesh?
As a company, brand and product line, Open Mesh will continue to operate just as they did prior to the acquisition. The entire team is staying on and there are some exciting new products in the pipeline. Open Mesh will operate like it always has: smarter, simpler cloud-managed networking at a great price with no recurring fees for CloudTrax.
How will the Open Mesh products be folded into Datto's current product line?
Open Mesh will continue selling the current line of access points and switches as they do today. Datto will offer several of the Open Mesh products in the ‘Datto Networking’ product line designed specifically for the channel. The Datto Networking line will be sold in parallel with Open Mesh’s product line.
As an Open Mesh reseller, will there now be opportunities to sell Datto's products to my customer base?
